About this Fair Trade Product
Perfectly constructed utility bag. This fair trade product will allow you to express yourself uniquely. Add the finishing touch to your day or evening look with this elegant and fun, petite purse.
This iPhone case is based on the traditional kothali, a simple sack used to carry valuables. Traditionally it is closed by tying a cord at the top. This one is embroidered in the style of Rabaris, camel herding nomads of Kutch. Beading and detailing are the forte of Rabari artisans.
This case could be used for storing most other cellphones and sun glasses.
About Rabari Embroidery
Rabari embroidery is unique to the nomadic Rabaris. Essential to Rabari embroidery is the use of mirrors in a variety of shapes. Rabaris outline patterns in chain stitch, then decorate them with a regular sequence of mirrors and accent stitches, in a regular sequence of colors. Rabaris also use decorative back stitching, called bakhiya, to decorate the seams of women's blouses and men's kediya/ jackets. The style, like Rabaris, is ever evolving, and in abstract motifs Rabari women depict their changing world. Contemporary bold mirrored stitching nearly replaced a repertoire of delicate stitches.
